Insurance for Ski Holidays

Posted May 23, 2011

Travel insurance is important no matter where you’re going. Flights can always be cancelled or your taxi delayed in traffic. Baggage can go astray, medical issues can crop up at the least convenient time, and any number of things can go wrong while you should be enjoying yourself the most. Almost everyone thinks taking out some kind of travel insurance is worthwhile, but unfortunately, not all policies cover breaks in the ski chalets of Les Gets.

To be more precise, they cover stays in the chalets of Chatel and other Alpine resorts, but they may not cover snow sports like skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and even walking in the snowy mountains and enjoying the views. While beginner skiing is quite safe, it is classified as an extra risk above and beyond normal holiday activity. Sometimes you have to pay an extra premium on winter sporting holidays or you can opt for a specialist ski travel policy from a company that offers winter sports insurance as standard. Whichever option you choose, it’s always best to ask exactly what is and is not covered.

If you plan to ski France this winter, make sure you get a travel insurance policy that is ski-friendly. The last thing you need if something goes wrong is to find out you’re not as comprehensively covered as you thought, and insurance should buy peace of mind more than anything else. Check your policy carefully before signing up and make sure it’s appropriate for the activities you want to engage in.
