Meribel Ski Holidays
Posted June 23, 2011Meribel, situated in the French Alps on the border of Switzerland and at the heart of the area known as the Three Valleys, is ideally situated for snow sports. If you are looking to ski, Meribel may just be the perfect destination for you. With more than 600 kilometres (370 miles) of marked ski runs, designed for all ages and abilities, there is something here for everyone.
If you are learning, or have young children with you, then you might want to consider checking out one of the Zen Zones which have gentle slopes to make learning easier.
For advanced skiers, there are a series of challenging black runs or you might consider going off-piste with a hired guide or as part of a guided group. If you’re a very experienced skier then you may want to think about trying heli-skiing or paragliding with skis, under the guidance of one of the local instructors.
The Meribel slopes are ideal for snowboarders, but there are also two Snow Parks with a variety of jumps, boards, and even half-pipes should you wish to try out some tricks. The nearby Courchevel Snow Park has a dedicated rail area, with Rail Rangers on hand to help out with advice should you need it.
When you have slid your way down your last slope, it will be time for dinner either at your catered chalets or at one of the many restaurants, some of which will take your order without you unstrapping your skis or board!
Finally, while you are tucked up in the warmth of your ski chalets at night, Meribel’s snow cannons will be heading up the mountainside to prepare the snow ready for your return the next morning.
