The aim of the game here is to increase your profit. There are two main sections we can look at:

 

Reviewing your Current Performance
We go through both your in’s and out’s to find areas where we can increase your profit. This can cover all sorts of things, for example:

 

- Looking at pricing strategies to increase the return from your beds.

- How much to spend on marketing & where

- Am I getting the most from my commission opportunities?

- Am I over or under spending in certain areas compared to my rivals?

 

I compare your numbers against other chalet companies & my own experiences to provide feedback on where you are beating your rivals and where things can be improved.

I take a very pragmatic point of view throughout. The point of the review is so we can produce a plan of action going forward to improve the bottom line, we will make a step-by-step To Do list.

 

Planning Business Change
If you are looking to add chalets, change products or move up / down market then we can help with critically reviewing your calculations and offering advice on the best route forward.

 

Firstly you get an experienced eye to go through your plans and offer critical advice. Any changes in the chalet business inevitably involve you risking large sums of your money, so we take time and care to appraise all the parts of your plans to reduce risk and increase your profit potential.

 

Secondly you get access to all the products I ran and the numbers behind that, what worked and what made the profit. I may have already implemented a similar plan, so you can use those experiences to help plan your business change.

 

Finally we work to provide improvements to the plans. I’ll offer suggestions, backed up by numbers, for other routes you could look at. I work to bring new ideas to the table, all coming from experience and through years working in the industry. As always pragmatism is key, we do all this to make a solid and practical plan going forward, with the eye always on improving the bottom line.

Case Studying – Planning Business Change.

 

Company X was considering expanding from two chalets to three. I came in to review these plans, mostly on the financial side.

 

Firstly I reviewed all the numbers, checking for errors. There were a lot of estimations to be made, so my experience was necessary to identify areas where the numbers were maybe a bit too optimistic or where things had been missed out. I did an in-depth look at their current booking patterns, to improve the accuracy when we extrapolated that to a third chalet.

 

Secondly we did a what-if analysis. What if our estimations are wrong, by 10%, by 20%? What are the critical numbers that have most effect on the bottom line? What if we expand, but the the average occupancy in each chalet drops? Where’s the cut off point where this drop turns profit into a loss? How many bookings are needed in 3 chalets to make an equivalent profit to our current bookings in 2 chalets?

 

Thirdly we looked at making improvements. I suggested a range of options where we could improve the financial performance of the new chalet. For example we re-designed the product in the 3rd chalet, to reduce inter-chalet competition for the same guests & increase occupancy. We also worked in detail on marketing plans. If we add the third chalet, how much more is it worth spending on marketing to get those extra guests? Where should we spend it? This was in part based on looking in detail at the success of each strand of their current marketing plans, to understand which would be the most effective to expand, as well as bringing all my experience to the table here.

 

Finally all this was turned into a practical plan. As always the work is aimed at making concrete plans to improve the business going forward.
