Montchavin
Montchavin Ski Resort is a charming mountain village in the La Plagne ski area, which is now joined to Les Arcs to make the giant combined area called Paradiski. Montchavin is close to Les Coches, and you'll often see the two ski villages go together as Montchavin-Les Coches, those they are distinct and separate mountain villages.
Close to the Vanoise Express Ski Lift (the giant cable car that joins Les Arcs to La Plagne), Montchavin has an excellent central location in this huge ski area and so makes a great base for those who like to explore on their ski holidays. The scale and variety of this ski area is quite something. 2 glaciers, 2km vertical drop, 141 ski lifts & 425kms of pistes! From Montchavin's central location it takes the whole day just to reach one edge of the ski area and get back in time for tea. There's plenty locally for beginner and intermediate skiers, and it's a very popular family ski resort so there's no shortage of good ski schools on hand for all levels.
Montchavin Chalets
The village of Montchavin, France, is a quiet traditional farming community. The old centre of the village is truely charming and this ski resort boasts charactor like few others. It's made of wood and stone chalets, with some self-catered apartments too. Being a small ski resort the majority of the accommodation is a short walk from the lifts and ski slopes. There's both self catered chalets and catered chalets in Montchavin, though catered chalets is probably the larger share. If you are looking for a charming chalet in a charming picture postcard ski resort, with a giant ski area on your doorstep, you'd do well to find better that Montchavin, France.
