Serre Chevalier is situated in the southern alps, within the Hautes-Alpes department, this is a large skiing area with over 250Km's of slopes, over 13 different villages. The area also boasts 300 days of sunshine a year making it one of the sunniest skiing spots around. The slopes in this area range from 1200M to 2800M, much of them are wooden although the trees stop growing at about 2150M's.
The area has around 60 lifts and two large ski lifts and 5 gondolas covering the 103 classified slopes.
