Les Gets is part of the huge Portes du Soleil ski area. This is the largest linked ski area in europe, with a staggering 650km of pistes. Climbing from 1000 to 2466m, this famous region covers 14 resorts in France and Switzerland. Its 208 ski lifts will take you to 288 pistes varying from absolute beginner to extreme advanced, all on a single pass! To put this in context, after our first season we had only managed to visit half of the fourteen linked resorts! This area truly does have everything a skier or boarder could want.
It is very popular with mixed ability groups as it can cater so well for just about any type and level of skiing. We are very lucky to have such a large and varied area. Each day we tend to move around the ski area to find the best conditions at that time. There are high open bowls well above the tree line, great for blue sky days and high altitude snow, with views all the way from lake Geneva to Mont Blanc. When it's snowing it's great to drop down into the tree lined runs, and as these slopes wind through the alpine forests they provide some of the most scenic skiing you will find.
Local Area - Les Gets/Morzine
One of Les Gets' greatest attractions is its ability to cater for skiers of all levels, as recommended by the Ski Club of Great Britain.
Our local area comprises of 48 lifts servicing over 120 km of pistes. For beginners the lower nursery slopes will help bolster confidence before progressing to the gentle blue runs higher up later on in your holiday.
For Intermediate skiers a ski holiday to Les Gets really comes into it's own. There are vast amounts of wide blue and red cruising runs. The Les Gets bowl is a hotspot for these. Try Mont Chery, Les Gets' hidden secret. It is always surprisingly quiet considering its beautifully groomed and wide runs, not to mention the incredible views from Mt Chery's summit.
An April powder day on Nyon
For advanced skiers, Les Gets offers exciting off-piste possibilities in the Chamoissiere and Nyon areas, as well as a number of challenging black runs including the Yeti mogul field. Mont Chery hides a black run reputed to be one of the hardest in the whole of the Portes du Soliel.
View of Mont Blanc from Chamoissiere
The views from the top of Chamoisiere are some of the best in the Alps. On one side is the Mont Blanc Chain and the other you can see all the way down the Morzine valley to Lake Geneva.

Avoriaz's 'Baby Park'
with Les Gets in the distance
Portes du Soleil
650km in two countries
Avoriaz is the first part of the Portes du Soleil that you hit after leaving the Les Gets/Morzine area. It is a high (1800m village level) snowsure resort, rated one of the best in Europe for snowboarders and park lovers. It has 2 main parks and two halfpipes, including the huge Avoriaz Superpipe. There are many other smaller attractions including the forest rail park, boarder cross tracks and the famous Canyon, a natural play park at the head of the Avoriaz Bowl.
The off-piste potential of Avoriaz is huge. It is high above the tree line and has the name of a place to be for powder holidays. We would always recommend going with a qualified guide for this, and we can arrange one for you.
The world cup downhill run, La Coupe du Monde, is a black run not to be missed. It stretches from the top of the Avoriaz ski area all the way down to the floor of the dramatic Prodains Valley. If you want to challenge those thighs on a real speed adrenalin run, this is a must.
Further afield the Portes du Soleil area stretches off far into the distance. With the largest ski area in Europe laid out in front of you, there is no chance of running out of new places to go this holiday. Its backbone is a circuit of wide blue and red cruising runs, winding their way through so many beautiful resorts your only worry is whether it's France or Switzerland for lunch! For more advanced skiers, off this main circuit lie more parks, powder fields and challenging blacks than even the best skier could touch in a week. Feeling brave? Try the Swiss wall, one of the hardest mogul runs in Europe!
